Pakistan's High Commissioner to India, Abdul Basit, on Thursday described the 'Aalishaan Pakistan' expo as a magnificent event and hoped that it would help in building a base for a strong bilateral relationship between New Delhi and Islamabad.
"It is a magnificent event. I would encourage my Indian friends to come and visit this 'Alishaan Pakistan' exhibition because this is an event that takes place after two years. This is an event, which provides a very good opportunity to see for yourself what Pakistan is all about," Basit told media here.
"And, I am sure that this event would also help bring our two people together, which in any case lays a foundation for a strong relationship between any two countries," he added.
Several activists of Hindu right-wing outfits earlier today protested outside Pragati Maidan, the venue where the Pakistan lifestyle exhibition is currently going on, and demanded that the event should be called off.
The police personnel deployed on duty took away the protestors in a bus to make sure that no untoward incident takes place.
The four-day show will continue till September 14 with over 150 exhibitors displaying their products at the event, which is being organised by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
