The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday lashed out at the Delhi Police and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the former was declaring an elected leader a terrorist and the latter was turning the country into a banana republic.

"Delhi Police is declaring an elected leader a terrorist. Is it a crime to fight against corruption? There is an FIR against Smriti Irani, why has she not been arrested?" said AAP spokesperson Ashutosh.

"I am not able to understand why PM Modi is scared of Arvind Kejriwal. Why Narendra Modi wants to make this country a banana republic?" he added.

In a big jolt to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government, Delhi Law Minister Jitendra Singh Tomar was arrested today by the Delhi Police.

Tomar has been facing charges that the education certificates submitted by him while filing nomination for Delhi Assembly polls earlier this year were fake.

Bihar's Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, from where Tomar claimed to have obtained his law degree, had earlier stated that the record of his provisional certificate did not exist in the university's record.

The BJP and Congress have been demanding Tomar's resignation since April when allegations first surfaced that he had faked his Bihar law degree.
