Interest Litigation had filed a petition seeking a probe against the CBI chief, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Ashutosh said on Thursday that Sinha must give answers about his role in trying to scuttle to '2G' and 'coal block scam' investigations.

"Ranjit Sinha is trying to create a situation in which someone takes the name of the whistle blower, this is not right. Ranjit Sinha should instead do his job properly as a CBI director and should answer the questions posed to him," Ashutosh told ANI here.

He said that the AAP's stand on the issue is clear-that the name of the 'whistleblower' should not be revealed at any cost because that would not only pose a threat to the 'whistleblower', but will also weaken

the fight against corruption.

"I am amazed as to why the CBI chief is taking someone's name. We are not aware of any name, and neither do we have any information about it. Our party's stand is that the name of the whistleblower should not be revealed at any cost, because, it is a question of his personal security, and it will also weaken the fight against corruption," Ashutosh added.

On Wednesday, Sinha had admitted to the Supreme Court that a senior IPS officer in his agency was the "mole" who gave documents and files to Prashant Bhushan on whose basis "false and baseless" allegations against him were made.

Sinha's lawyer Vikas Singh had further said documents, based on which the NGO filed the petition seeking a probe against the CBI director, was reportedly leaked by DIG-ranked officer Santosh Rastogi.

Advocate Prashant Bhushan and the NGO Centre for Public Interest Litigation, had earlier filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against Sinha, seeking his removal for allegedly compromising investigations into the 2G and coal block cases.

To support his allegation Bhushan had presented to the court a visitor's logbook of Sinha's Delhi residence as evidence and claimed that Sinha used to meet people associated with the scams during the investigation of the

same.
