The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday demanded full statehood status for the national capital and added that not having as much rights as other states is the biggest obstacle in the running Delhi government.
"We said in our manifesto that the biggest obstacle in running a government in Delhi is that the Delhi government doesn't have those rights which all the other states have. Therefore, we demand that complete statehood should be granted to Delhi and police, law and order, land and municipal bodies in Delhi should be brought under state government," AAP leader Yogendra Yadav told mediapersons.
Yadav also alleged Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of turning back on its promise of granting full statehood to Delhi.
"Ever since Delhi became a state in 1993, BJP has been saying that they will give complete statehood to Delhi, they have made this promise in every election since then. Now BJP has turned back on its promise. To one of the newspapers, BJP leader Kiran Bedi has said that the issue of granting full statehood to Delhi is not a central issue. One by one, BJP is turning back on its promises made to people," he said.
Meanwhile, AAP leader Ashutosh said that the BJP leaders are using undignified language against his party in television debates.
"Yesterday in a TV debate, BJP leader Vijendra Gupta used uncivilized language against Arvind Kejriwal. Is it not an insulting remark on AAP and its national convener? BJP leaders have been consistently using foul language in TV shows, TV channels should look into this," Ashutosh said.
AAP leader Sanjay Singh on the other hand said that the induction of Kiran Bedi in the BJP shows that the saffron party has already conceded defeat.

"It looks like BJP has already conceded defeat. They fought Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Haryana and Jammu Kashmir elections by taking Prime Minister Modi's name. Now in Delhi they have suddenly realized that it will not work, so they brought in Kiran Bedi," Singh said.
Ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, all the parties in the fray are indulging in making accusations and verbally attacking each other.
