The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday said that Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's role in the DDCA was equivalent to the role played by Suresh Kalmadi in the 2010 Commonwealth Games-related scams.

"Few people are saying that Jaitley's role in the DDCA was that of Manmohan Singh's in UPA Government, which meant the scams were taking place but he kept quiet. But now we get to understand that his role was of Suresh Kalmadi," AAP legislator Kapil Mishra told ANI.

When asked to respond to the clean chit being given to Finance Minister Jaitley by the DDCA, Mishra said, "The scam has taken place in the DDCA, and the body itself is giving a clean chit to Arun Jaitley. That is why we are stating that the DDCA is along with Arun Jaitley and vice-versa."

The DDCA had yesterday rejected the Congress Pary's allegations of "gross financial irregularities" against incumbent Finance Minister and its former president Arun Jaitley, saying that such charges were 'absolutely rubbish'.

The DDCA working president Chetan Chauhan told a press conference to rebut all allegations against the former president.

"Some allegations have been raised against the DDCA and they need clarification as everyone is stating their point. The first thing is the allegation of irregularities on stadium construction. The stadium cost Rs 141 crore to make. The reason for escalated costs was because earlier the capacity was 26,000. But we demolished and then renovated. It is recorded in ROC. It was given to the EPIL, so I absolutely rubbish the charges," he said.

"I rubbish the allegations against ex president (Jaitley). I would like to thank Jaitley ji for taking care of renovation and making this a state-of-the-art stadium," he added.

Congress leader Ajay Maken, while talking to the media, said that there were "gross financial irregularities" in the DDCA which had been headed by Jaitley.

Maken also alleged that there was "no hope of a fair probe till Jaitley was the finance minister" and demanded his resignation till the probe was completed.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had earlier said that the CBI searched the office of his principal secretary with the intention of acquiring documents relating to an inquiry over the alleged financial irregularities of the DDCA, the cricket association of which Jaitley was president from December 1999 to 2013.
