Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday announced that people in the city using under 400 units will be provided electricity at half the price from March 1 and 20,000 litres water each month shall be free per household. e had promised to reduce power tariffs, the families using power till 400 units will get it on half the price. This will be effective from the 1st of March. Those families using more than 400 units will have to pay the entire bill," Sisodia said at a press conference here.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had promised a 50 percent reduction in power tariff and clean drinking water at affordable prices in its 70-point election manifesto to the people of Delhi.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had also called a meeting of all departments and ministers a few days ago to outline the action plan for the national capital in the coming days.
Kejriwal had earlier instructed all government departments to give detailed presentations to him on how they would implement the Aam Aadmi Party's action plan over providing free water and subsidized electricity to the city residents.
The AAP Government has also asked the CAG to conduct an audit of private power distribution companies in the capital.
