The associate editor of the website portal mediasarkar.com, Abhiranjan Jha, on Friday said the portal has handed over raw footage relating to a sting operation featuring eight of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders to the Election Commission (EC).
"We have handed over the raw footage to the Election Commission. This is our responsibility. We had received a letter from EC. Since we are 100 percent confident about our report, we had decided that we would give the raw footage to any legal or constitutional body," he said.
"We will co-operate with any further investigation. The Election Commission asked us to give the raw footage taking into account that some video channels have telecasted parts of the footage from our website,' he added.
Earlier in the day, AAP leader Yogendra Yadav told mediapersons that his party would be filing a case of criminal defamation against 'mediasarkar' on Monday, for attempting to malign the image of the party and its leaders.
"This was not done in national interest, but to defame AAP. Our suspicion is now being cemented that these tapes are doctored. We went through the CD again and again, and found that a lot of things have been edited out," he said.
Yadav asserted that AAP would lodge a complaint with the Election Commission over this issue, and also appealed to the poll body to take stern action against the website.
A controversial sting operation has alleged that several AAP leaders, at least eight of them, were contacted for their help in the recovery of money from individuals and getting land deals done, and they readily agreed to extend their support in return of donations in cash to the AAP.
