The girlfriend of former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to a perjury charge in a case of murder of one of the player's friends.
According to the New York Post, Shayanna Jenkins was arraigned in Fall River Superior Court and released on personal recognizance.
A prosecutor said she lied to a grand jury, including about where she disposed off a box Hernandez asked her to get rid of, according to the report.
The prosecutor said that she repeatedly told grand jurors she couldn't remember where she threw away the box.
However, Jenkins' lawyer said that she answered every question asked of her before the grand jury, the report mentioned.
Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the death of Odin Lloyd, a 27-year-old semi-pro football player from Boston, the report said.
Jenkins and Hernandez lived together in North Attleborough, Massachusetts, near where Lloyd's body was found, the report added.
