South African captain AB de Villiers believes that strike-rate rather than pace would be the deciding factor in the five-match ODI series against Australia.

According to him, the most essential factor in a one day cricket would be the ability to take wickets rather than the pace of bowling. He said that Imran Tahir could be a strike bowler for them in his own way as he has the best figures in terms of strike rate. He further said that if Johnson was the pick bowler amongst Australians, then they have Steyn to counter it, Sports 24 reported.

Commenting on the absence of JP Duminy, he said that his absence would limit their bowling options. He stated that they would need to go with five frontline bowlers, and still decide whether to play a specialist spinner at the WACA or go with an all-out pace attack.

The Proteas have won seven out of eight matches at the WACA, with the series-clinching 309-run Test win two years ago as their most recent accomplishment at the ground.
