A new opinion poll has shown Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott being marked down by voters unimpressed by his stint at Brisbane's G20 summit and his lavish hosting of the global leaders at home.
The poll published in an Australian daily showed that opposition Leader Bill Shorten had moved five points, 43 percent to 37 percent, to emerge as the preferred Prime Minister, reported News.com.au.
The report also said that Labor strengthened its electoral leadership 55 per cent to 45 per cent on a two-party preferred basis.
Another poll by Morgan also exhibited no improvement for Abbott in the after math of the summit.
While the dissatisfaction with Abbott's performance rose from 52 per cent to 55 per cent, Shorten's fell from 45 percent to 41 percent.
Labor senator Sam Dastyari termed the opinion polls a "disaster" for the government and added that it was "embarrassing" for the nation to see Abbott acting like a "village idiot" on the world stage.
