The distraught family of Preeti Rathi, the girl who succumbed to her injuries after an unidentified man threw acid on her face, has refused to cremate her until a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is launched in the case.

Preeti's father, Amar Singh Rathi, remained a muted figure after Preeti's body was brought inside a coffin to their residence.

Stating three demands, Amar Singh Rathi said that the decision to not cremate her body was taken after discussions with other family members.

"Our first demand is that there should be an enquiry by the CBI. The second is that, as compensation one member of the family should be placed on her post. And third, her cremation should be done with complete state honours," said Amar Singh Rathi.
