The police have conducted a raid on a Maoist hideout and arrested three 'hardcore' rebels in Jharkhand's Khunti district.

They have also recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition, which was reportedly looted by the rebels in 2008.

Superintendent of Police, Anis Gupta, said the police had received information that some rebels were conspiring to attack the area. Soon, a search operation was conducted and as the Maoists tried to run away during the raid, they were nabbed by the police.

"A team led by the Superintendent of Police was called; it included police officials and police station officer of Khunti and Karki and security men of the district force. Acting on a tip-off, the operation was launched yesterday and this morning three rebels were arrested," said Gupta.

The arrested Maoists have been identified as Diwakar Pakar Munda, Umakant Pakar Munda and Mohammad Afsal Aalam.

One of the rebels was reportedly an arms supplier and informer for the Maoists.
