British actor Idris Elba has reportedly made his debut as a director in a new World Cup advertisement of Pepsi.

Elba wrote the script for a short music video for hit Unstoppable by R3HAB, featuring singer Eva Simons, in which a schoolboy is bullied until other kids realise he has some serious football skills.

According to the Daily Star, the ad showed the power of self-confidence and designed the idea to take part in the golden age of international football with Elba saying that he chose the song as he loved the idea of being unstoppable as it is 'self-belief'.

Elba further said that he likes the entire 1970s-era with their typical haircuts and style, and he chose a character that is stereotypically a nerd who is not 'sporty-looking', but later turns out to be very good at the game and is unstoppable when he starts to let himself go.

The track is the third of 11 anthemic songs joining together as part of Pepsi's exclusive collection of pre-World Cup songs, with Kelly Rowland, Janelle Monae, Rita Ora and many more contributing to the set.

The Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom actor features on the album with other famous directors such as Spike Lee and Diego Luna, the report added.
