Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani on Saturday met children at his residence and wished each of them a very happy Raksha Bandhan.
Advani said, "Every year lots of school children come here and wish me on this occasion."
Earlier, President Pranab Mukherjee met school children at the President's House to celebrate the festival and Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also greeted by children on the occasion.
This Hindu festival, which celebrates the love and duty between brothers and sisters, is primarily observed in India, Mauritius and parts of Nepal.
It is also celebrated by Hindus and Sikhs in parts of Pakistan and by some people of Indian origin around the world.
On Raksha Bandhan, sisters tie a rakhi (sacred thread) on her brother's wrist, which symbolises the sister's love and prayers for her brother's well-being and the brother's lifelong vow to protect her.
