Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani on Saturday said his party will achieve a record victory in the 2014 general elections.

Advani urged his party workers to be ready and begin preparations for the polls.

"Elections in the six states of the country and the Lok Sabha polls will take place before April, may be till May. But everybody is of the opinion that the Election Commission will itself want that the polls take place earlier whether the government wants it or not," he said.

Advani also used the occasion to target the Congress Party.

"The Congress Party has set the agenda for the 2014 polls due to corruption and misgovernance. The BJP's job is just to highlight it," he said.

Advani claimed that the mood of the country is in favour of the BJP.

"I don't think it has ever happened that opinion polls have been in our favour so much as they are now. We will break all records," he said.

Advani also recalled the entire journey from Jan Sangh to the BJP of today, and said the reason for the saffron outfit's progress is that there has been no caste discrimination and it is linked to the land.

Infighting is presently on within the BJP as to who should be the party's prime ministerial candidate in 2014.

Advani had earlier resigned from all party posts after Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was appointed the chief of BJP's poll panel for the Lok Sabha polls. He was, however, forced to do a U-turn after RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat stepped in, and withdrew his resignation on June 11.
