The Afghanistan government and the Taliban have made a fresh start of their reconciliation process, resuming direct contact on Tuesday night.
According to Dawn News, the contact between the Taliban and Afghan government in Qatar broke down in 2013 because of the flag and plaque controversy at the opening of Doha office.
Officials from other countries including the US and China are also taking part in the start of the talks.
A source said the participating countries were more than facilitators. They would be the guarantors if the Afghan government and Taliban eventually struck a deal.
