A report has revealed that the United States is preparing to seal a delayed security deal with Afghanistan within days of the inauguration of president-elect Ashraf Ghani, a senior U.S. State Department official said.

Referring to the bilateral security deal governing the presence of U.S. troops in Afghanistan post 2014, the official remarked on Wednesday that the two sides have shown great consistency in commitment to sign the deal that has already been negotiated and closed. He added that the agreement is therefore, expected to be signed in a matter of days after the new administration takes over on Monday, reported The Express Tribune.

Abdullah Abdullah and Ghani signed a power-sharing deal few days ago under which Abdullah agreed to hold the position of the Chief Executive, a new role similar to prime minister, and conceded the presidency to Ghani.
