AFMS personnel providing maximum medical aid to Uttarakhand flood victims

Speedy medical aid is being provided to flood victims in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh by the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) personnel in sync with Indian Army evacuation teams.

Emergency medical teams, including doctors, members of the Military Nursing Service (MNS) and paramedics have been airlifted and dispatched to forward and inaccessible areas to cater for first aid and disease outbreak.

An accident and emergency services medical centre has been established at the Joshimath helipad. Adequate stocks of medicines and consumables have been airlifted to forward locations to meet any emergent requirements.

Twenty-nine medical teams, inclusive of five reserves, of varying strengths, fully equipped and self sufficient, have been mobilized and deployed along different axis around Kedarnath. Medical camps have also been established at Gothi, Dharchula, Gauridham and Tijam.

The military hospital at Pithoragarh is providing first aid and emergency medical care to patients along Pithoragarh-Dharchula-Tawaghat axis. Over the last four days, over 7000 individuals have been given essential and vital medical attention.

Air Force rapid action medical teams have also placed detachments at Air Force Station receiving the stranded and airlifted individuals.

The situation is being continuously monitored and progress of events being continuously updated at the office of the DGAFMS. The AFMS is geared up and continues to brace itself to face any untoward situation warranting medical aid and relief in the affected areas.
