The African Union (AU) and Russia have joined hands to resolve issues of terrorism and transnational crime and to achieve peace.
According to Xinhua, the agreement was made during the meeting between AU Commissioner for Peace and Security Smail Chergui and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow.
Both the leaders stressed the need for broad cooperation in dealing with regional and global affairs.
Chergui had arrived in Moscow yesterday for the bilateral meet.
The two-day visit of the AU Commissioner to Moscow comes within the framework of the growing partnership between the AU and Russia.
This is in preparation for a high-level strategic dialogue to take place at the AU Commission building, in Ethiopia's Addis Ababa in early 2018.
