England skipper Eoin Morgan has admitted that his side was 'a long way off ' from becoming world champions. He said this following their 59-run defeat against Australia in the first one day international of the five-match series in Southampton.
The 28-year-old felt that Australia is a really strong side, and that England would have to perform at their best to beat them, the Guardian reports.
He also added that the tourists defended the score quite well and placed England under pressure throughout the match.
Morgan said opener Jason Roy played extremely well.
The two sides will now lock horns in the second ODI of the five-match series at Lord's, London on Saturday.
