The bus service between Agartala and Dhaka has resumed its services after a five-month suspension due to the recent violent political agitation in Bangladesh.
The Maitri bus service resumed its bi-weekly service from Krishna Nagar Depot on Thursday. Officials of Tripura Road Transport Corporation and diplomats of the Agartala-based visa office of Bangladesh, among others, saw off the passengers of the fully booked 35-seater bus.
The reciprocal bus service from Bangladesh, Shyamali, has also resumed its service.
The Tripura government is also seeking to launch a direct bus service between Agartala and Kolkata via Dhaka in the near future. The Tripura resident commissioner in New Delhi also held a discussion with the concerned authorities in this regard.
