Firing salvos at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said he agreed with the latter that the development of Bihar has suffered due to politics.

"I agree with Nitish ji, that if elections under Atal ji had been held, then pending projects would have been completed," said Prime Minister Modi.

"I agree with Nitish ji, projects that started ages ago have been delayed. Because the government changed after Atal ji's Government," he added.

Adding that the development of states is very important for the nation's progress, the Prime Minister stressed that the time is over when schemes were formulated in Delhi.
"The time is over when schemes were developed in Delhi, now those decisions need to be molded by the states' requirements. If infrastructure isn't stressed upon, we will fall back," he added.

Seeking to kick start the BJP's poll campaign in Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched a slew of schemes, including the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) here on Saturday.

The Prime Minister, who shared the stage with Nitish Kumar, flagged off the Daniyawa-Biharsharif Railway line and the Patna-Mumbai railway line.
