Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha on Friday released book which recalls the devastation of the tsunami that struck India and other nations in the Indian Ocean in 2004.

Penned by Air Commodore Nitin Sathe, the book is a recollection of memoirs of the tsunami that the author faced when he was posted to the Air Force station in Carnicobar. The book also talks of the acts of bravery by various members of the Air Force.

"Any time such a contingency comes up, the Indian Air Force will always look after its people and also the people of the nation. We are a very specialized service and very proud as professionals to say that we are exclusive by our profession but are totally inclusive in serving the Nation," Air Chief Marshal Raha said at the function.

The 2004 tsunami, which was caused by an earthquake off Sumatra, Indonesia, resulted in the death of 2,30,000 people in 14 countries, including over 12,000 people displaced in India.
