Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Tuesday described the Aircel-Maxis deal, involving Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leaders Dayanidhi Maran, as a very big scam and said that it impeaches on national security of the country.
"As I am a petitioner in Aircel-Maxis deal case, I can say that it is a very big scam, and it also impeaches on our national security," said Swamy.
He alleged that Dayanidhi Maran forced an Indian company sell to a foreign company and former Finance Minister P Chidambaram ensured that Maran gets 100 percent of the shares.
Earlier, Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi recommended filing of a charge sheet against DMK leaders Dayanidhi Maran and Kalanithi Maran in the Aircel-Maxis case.
Sources say that the Attorney General has given a go-ahead to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in filing of charge sheet.
The Attorney General has also told the CBI that there is enough evidence to prosecute the former telecom minister and his brother.
Maran is alleged to have misused his office to force Aircel owner Sivasankaran to sell his entire stake in the company to a Malaysian businessman T Ananda Krishnan. Maran later entered into a quid-pro arrangement with the company.
