Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) president and former chief minister Om Prakash Chautala on Wednesday removed his son and former Member of Parliament Ajay Singh Chautala from the post of the party's state unit secretary general and also expelled him from the party's primary membership for allegedly "vitiating the party discipline."
Reading out a statement at a press conference here, the INLD's state unit president Ashok Arora said: "Chaudhary Om Prakash Chautala, national president of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has not only removed Ajay Singh Chautala from the office of the Secretary General of the state unit of the INLD but also expelled him from the primary membership of the party."
"The national president of INLD accused Ajay Singh Chautala of activities that vitiated the party discipline and weakened the cohesiveness, unity and integrity of the party. He also reminded that he continues to adhere to the principle where no individual or member of his family is above the discipline of the party. Hence he has no hesitation in choosing the party over his family member," said the statement, read out by Arora.
"Chaudhary Om Prakash Chautala also accused Ajay Singh Chautala of trying to run a parallel party organisation by going beyond his powers and calling an unauthorized meeting of the party at Jind on November 17, 2018. He reminded him of Section 5 of Article IX of the Constitution of INLD wherein no general or special meeting can be called without the prior written permission of the national president. Any violation of this Section shall invite disciplinary action by the national president," said Arora.
Earlier, Leader of the Opposition Abhay Singh Chautala opened up on the issue of indiscipline that has been raging in the party since Gohana rally held on October 7, 2018 to celebrate the 105th birthday of Chaudhary Devi Lal. During the rally, a section of the youth supporting Hisar MP Dushyant Chautala had allegedly indulged in unwanted sloganeering, which had led to the expulsion of Dushyant Chautala and his younger brother Digvijay Singh from the primary membership of the party.
