Veteran Pakistani spinner Saeed Ajmal has called for more money to be paid to Pakistan's Test players and claimed that Pakistani cricketers were getting less money than their international counterparts.

Pakistan play fewer Tests than most because the other teams do not want to tour the country due to security concerns.

According to The Dawn, Ajmal urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to raise Test fees given that players currently want to play more Twenty20 and one-day internationals than Tests because of more money in the limited-overs formats as compared to the longer form of the game.

Stating that there is almost no difference in the fees paid out for all three formats in Pakistan, Ajmal also said that Pakistan is not playing as many Tests as compared to other countries, adding that he has played just 28 Tests in six years.

Ajmal, who has taken 147 wickets in 28 tests and 146 wickets in 92 ODIs, also asked the PCB to create a difference in the fees paid for all three formats, adding that Test cricket should form the basis for their improvement in the other formats.

Ajmal also said that too much T20 cricket is hurting the Test form.
