The West Bengal Police on Wednesday reportedly ordered the arrest of AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi for his controversial remarks at a recent rally held here.

"The police has formed a team to arrest Owaisi, but there are police provisions for the arrest. We will proceed accordingly," said Rajeev Ranjan Superintendent of Police, Kishanganj, told ANI here.

An FIR was lodged against Owaisi on Monday by the Kishanganj District administration for allegedly making an inflammatory speech at an election rally here last Sunday.

According to reports, Owaisi's speech had violated provisions of Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CRPC) and an FIR has been lodged under Sections 153A and 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Kochadhaman police station.

He had allegedly used abusive language against all members of parliament except his elder brother Asaduddin Owaisi, who is the AIMIM chief and an MP from Hyderabad. He also allegedly made provocative remarks against BJP leaders.
