American experts have warned that the global extremist network, Al Qaeda, is more dangerous than ever.

According to the U.S. counterterrorism officials, the group is regaining its hold more than two-and-a-half years after its most wanted leader Osama bin Laden was shot dead in a Navy SEAL operation in Abbottabad, the Daily Times reports.

Syrian civil war has attracted militant volunteers from Muslim communities in Europe as well as Arab countries and this is helping the outfit in securing its territory, the experts said.

Although Al Qaeda's former lieutenants have been killed by US Special Forces or in drone strikes in past couple of years, but the group is rebuilding its influence with armed groups in Syria, Somalia, Yemen, Libya and West Africa flocking under the banner.
