South Africa all-rounder Albie Morkel has reportedly admitted that he had never lost hope of returning to the Proteas international squad and is looking forward to add more than just his on-field skill to the team.

Morkel, who has been called to the team for the ongoing Twenty20 series against Australia and forthcoming World T20 in Bangladesh, said that the reason any professional sportsman plays is that they always want to think that they can 'get back in'.

According to News24, Morkel added that he had never retired from international cricket and he thinks that the decision was made a year-and-a-half ago by the selectors that they want to 'build for the World Cup'.

Morkel has also said that had it been a year ago for him to be a part of the international squad, his answer probably might have been no, but now after a good domestic season things were good with him on his own personal note.

Morkel will play his fifth tournament as South Africa prepares for the ICC World Twenty20 tournament and he is hopeful of making a difference for the team, the report added.
