Alec Baldwin will play the mayor of New York City in the new Universal Television and HBO drama series, it has been revealed.
The 56-year-old actor, who is also the executive producer of the series, will play Joe Byrne, a billionaire real estate developer philanthropist, and celebrated socialite/tabloid fixture, who is unexpectedly rocketed into NYC politics when tragedy strikes the incumbent mayor and he is drafted to replace him, Deadline.com reported.
Baldwin will be joined by writer/EP Wells Tower and EP Cary Brokaw.
