Amazon has made Alexa a tad smarter with a series of updates introduced recently. As part of the dozen update, Alexa can now provide one with a location-specific reminder.

Devices which support the smart assistant, such as Amazon's own Echo line of devices, can now perform time and location-based routines and reminders which are triggered at a specific time or when you enter or leave a specific area, Engadget reported.

Once you update the Alexa app on your phone and permit it access to location, you will be able to set up routines such as a reminder for taking out the trash when you get back home or turn off the lights when you step out, and so on.

You can also place calls to local businesses and ask Alexa to provide a summary of your emails. Alexa can also recognise time-based triggers in routines. For instance, you can now include a 30-minute delay to your morning routine before Alexa starts to read headlines.
