Holi is normally cleebrated by the entire country with gusto, but the people of Allahabad have added their own twist to the festival of colours by taking out a unique procession and worshipping a hammer.

The hammer is not only worshipped, but also paraded around the city and people from all communities, Hindus as well as Muslims, take part in the procession.

Allahabad, however, is not unique in celebrating Holi in its own way.

In West Bengal, traditional Dolyatra began as the part of Holi celebration, where women dressed in traditional dresses dance, swing and sing devotional songs by placing the idols of Krishna and Radha on a picturesquely decorated palanquin which is then taken round the main streets of the city. While men keep spraying multihued powder colour on them.

Foreign tourists visiting the country rae also celebrating Holi as they enjoy the tradition and festivity with pomp and gaiety.

Holi will be observed across the nation tomorrow, and markets are abuzz with demand for coloured powder and pichkaris or water guns.
