Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Rajnath Singh said on Friday that his party's alliance with five regional parties in Tamil Nadu will prove to be a game changer.

Singh was addressing a news conference in Trichy city in Tamil Nadu.

"We are very fortunate that I am present in Tamil Nadu, we are having five allies with Bharatiya Janata Party. I would like to say this alliance is just like a rainbow coalition. It is going to be the game changer in Tamil Nadu," said Singh.

BJP formally brought together five regional parties on the same platform in March, forming an alliance with Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), lead by actor-turned politician Vijayakanth; Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) headed by Vaiko, Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) and two other smaller parties.

BJP went for an alliance with major regional parties to gain the maximum seats in the general election.

Singh also said the alliance will end the misrule of the Congress.

"Due to this remote control UPA - I would like to say UPA - an unprogressive alliance. This UPA governance is a governance of misrule," said Singh.

Boasting about BJP's performance in the elections, Singh said he is confident of BJP crossing the 272 seat mark.
