At least 957 people have been killed in eastern Ukraine since September 5th when a ceasefire came into place, said United Nations human rights office.

On an average, around 13 people have been killed every day in eastern Ukraine since the September 5 truce, continuing violations on both sides.

According to the BBC, a new report by the UN office describes a total breakdown of law and order in rebel-held Donetsk and Luhansk in eastern Ukraine.

Russia has been widely accused by western governments of fanning the violence by covertly supplying the rebels with military aid.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatseniuk accused Russia on Thursday of provoking large scale violence. Tussian President Vladimir Putin's actions were a threat to the international order and peace, added Yatseniuk.

However, Russian government has been denying all accusations.
