Human Rights lawyer Amal Clooney, who is defending Former Maldives president Mohamed Nasheed, has said she will continue to pursue all legal and diplomatic strategies to secure his release.
Clooney said that former president Nasheed's unjust imprisonment had led to the largest protest movement in Maldivian history, and added that she and co-counsel would continue to pursue all legal and diplomatic strategies to secure her client's release, including through the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, Vanity Fair reported.
Earlier, Clooney confirmed that she will be in the Maldives to represent former President Nasheed, who was sentenced to 13 years in prison on terrorism charges earlier this year and forced to resign at gun point.
