Human rights lawyer Amal Clooney has called on Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to overturn the court decision to hand over three-year jail terms to three al-Jazeera journalists.
According to The Guardian, she said that al-Sisi must pardon them to stem damage to Egypt's reputation.
Peter Greste, Canadian Mohamed Fahmy and Egyptian Baher Mohamed were handed over three year jail terms for false broadcasting that left a negative impact on Egypt after the 2013 military coup.
The case has been widely criticised by the global community and is becoming an embarrassment for President al-Sisi.
