Mulayam Singh Yadav on Tuesday appointed Amar Singh, who survived the recent "outsider" storm in the ruling Samajwadi Party, as the national general secretary of the party.
As per reports, Mulayam confirmed this in a handwritten letter to Amar Singh.
Amar Singh has always won Mulayam's support who, first made him a Rajya Sabha member and now has been allotted an important party post.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Mulayam's son Akhilesh Yadav had recently hinted that "outsider" Amar Singh, who was recently brought back into the SP fold, as the cause of tensions within the family.
The rift within the party started when the Chief Minister stripped uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav of key ministerial portfolios on September 13, hours after he was replaced with Shivpal as the party's state unit chief.
However, Shivpal was later on made the state party president and was returned his portfolios, except the PWD Department, which the Chief Minister kept with himself.
