Amazon has lost seven million dollars in the second quarter of the year.
The loss comes despite a 22 percent rise in sales to 15.7 billion dollars for the April to June quarter.
The online retail giant is trying to diversify away from simply warehousing and selling gadgets to provide broader technologies, such as tablets.
The company is spending billions trying to expand into a broader technology company, which also involves competing hard in China, the BBC reports.
Amazon has forecast sales of between 15.45 billion dollars and 17.15 billion dollars for the coming quarter.
