Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Thursday said his party is one of the very few that can boast of internal democracy and a properly devised system of organisational polls that take place in a timely manner.
"There are around 1,600 parties in our democracy, out of which very few parties have internal democracy within them. I am glad to inform that BJP is a party which has internal democracy and our organizational polls take place in a time-bound manner," said Shah.
He expressed his delight over the BJP becoming the world's largest political party.
"I take both pride and pleasure in informing that BJP has become the world's largest political party," Shah said.
The BJP chief lauded the efforts of the party's workers to help in its expansion process and increase the membership base of the party.
"Be it in college hostels, malls, vegetable markets, on roads, going to houses in colonies, both general as well as door-to-door programmes were held for the expansion of membership by the workers," Shah added.
Shah also announced the initiation of the 'Maha Sampark Abhiyaan' which is scheduled to begin from May 1.
