The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday observed Samarpan Diwas to commemorate the contributions of its founder leader Deen Dayal Upadhyay on his death anniversary.

Speaking at a programme at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Park, party president Amit Shah said: "the kind of party envisaged by Deen Dayal ji was not based on the leaders of the party but of activists and the organisation."

"Deen Dayal ji is an inspiration for all of us as he always kept himself away from the fame and focused on making the party more stronger," he added.

Shah also claimed that the BJP do not take money from the industrialists or a contractor rather use its own money to run the political quarter.

"With pride, the BJP workers should say that we run this party with our own money. No money from industrialists or contractors is taken to run the party," he said.

Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay was a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) thinker and former leader of the political party Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the forerunner of Bharatiya Janata Party.
