Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah on Monday rubbished reports that the Centre has not been able to curb inflation, saying the prices of petrol have come down since the new government came to power.
"Other parties are saying that we have not been able to curb inflation after coming to power but it is not true. The prices of petrol have dropped after we came to power; the BJP has made a good start," said Shah.
He further said that the priorities of the UPA and the NDA are extremely different which reflected in their actions.
"When the UPA had come to power in 2004, the first thing their Cabinet did was to repeal POTA as part of its "communal appeasement policy", and change the law that had been made to tackle terrorism, whereas when Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government came to power, the first thing they did was to form an SIT against black money. This reflects the priorities and directions of both the parties," he said.
"There are many such examples. But I primarily want to mention the Jan Dhan Yojana of Narendra Modi according to which, at least two people in a family would have an account in the bank and especially the poor people would be a part of this," he added.
