South African batsman Hashim Amla said that he is not surprised by the decision of Gary Kirsten to step down from the position of head coach of the team.

Amla, who is currently the premier batsmen in world cricket and is ranked number one in both one-day internationals and Test cricket, has won over fans and critics alike with his runs, languid style and professional attitude, www.PakPassion.net reports.

According to Amla, he is not surprised at Kirsten's decision as he said that he could understand, as a fellow sportsman, the difficulties and pressures that Kirsten had to face during the days that they travel away from South Africa.

Amla further said that Kirsten played international cricket for almost ten years as well as coaching for a few more, so for him to dedicate more time to his family makes sense to him.

Meanwhile, Amla said that the Pakistan team had to face difficulties during the Test series on their recent South Africa tour as coupled with the difficult pitches, the Proteas bowlers, who form the best bowling attack in the world at the moment, had exploited the home conditions well.
