Amy Sedaris joins the cast of 'Lion King'

American actor-comedian Amy Sedaris has joined the cast of Disney's live-action remake of 'The Lion King'.

She will be lending her voice for a brand new animal in the kingdom that was established in the 1994 animated classic, reported Variety.

The 57-year-old star will be voicing the character of an elephant shrew, the tiny mammal is a native to Africa and known for its top speed.

The film's teaser trailer dropped on the occasion on Thanksgiving, giving its fans the perfect gift. It became the second most-viewed trailer in history in just 24 hours of its release. The trailer features all the main characters from the original movie including Mufasa, Rafiki and Simba.

The trailer also shows the famous 'circle of life' song and the classic scene where Rafiki holds up baby Simba.

With the screenplay written by Jeff Nathanson and songs by legends like Elton John and Time Rice, the flick will be directed by Jon Favreau. The animated film will feature Donald Glover and Beyonce in the lead roles for the voice cast. James Earl Jones, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Billy Eichner, Seth Rogen, Alfre Woodard and John Oliver are also a part of the cast ensemble.

Favreau and Sedaris have previously worked together in the 2014 food-truck drama 'Chef'.

Sedaris is a no stranger to animated voice work as she has appeared in all the five seasons of Netflix's 'BoJack Horseman' and the acclaimed 2016 indie 'My Life as a Zucchini'. She also served as a regular member on Tina Fey and Robert Carlock's Netflix comedy 'The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt'.

'The Lion King' will is all set to hit the big screens on July 19, 2019.
