National security analysts have said that the Obama administration does not have a grand strategy to combat Islamic State (IS) militants outside Iraq and Syria as the terrorist group aims to seize more territory and plans attacks against the United States.

Retired Army Lieutenant General James Dubik, analyst at the Institute for the Study of War who commanded troops in Iraq said that the IS has an "expansive vision of itself", reported the Washington Times.

He also said that the jihadists were not satisfied with the IS in Iraq and Syria and that they are reaching out to other areas as well.

Analysts and officials said that the militant group was gaining ground in Syria and attracting more followers across the Middle East.
