Gujarat revenue minister Anandiben Patel, has been chosen as the next chief minister of Gujarat after her name was proposed by the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) today.
Anandiben Patel, 72 becomes the first ever woman chief minister of Gujarat as she succeeds Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi who will be appointed as the Prime Minister of India. Narendra Modi met the President yesterday to officially stake claim to form the next government at the Centre.
Born in Kharod village in North Gujarat, Anandiben is the longest serving BJP minister in the state.
