A twelve-member delegation from the Andhra Pradesh Government headed by state's Human Resource Development Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao visited Amity University here on Tuesday in order to study first-hand success story of the University.
The Andhra Pradesh Government is in pursuit to promote higher education at global level and set up private universities of global standards in the public-private partnership mode.
Addressing the gathering, Srinivasa Rao expressed his delight in visiting the Amity University and said that Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh would like to make the state a knowledge and education hub.
Srinivasa Rao also disclosed that the AP Government has proposed to bring legislation to permit establishment of private universities in the State and the draft bill is likely to be tabled during Cabinet meeting which is scheduled for August 17, 2015.
He invited Amity University to establish a private university in Andhra Pradesh, providing professional education .
Principal Secretary of Higher Education in Andhra Pradesh, Sumita Dawra, remarked that the delegation is very impressed with the quality of education provided by Amity University. She briefed that an 'Education City' has been planned in Visakhapatnam through PPP mode wherein private universities would bring in investments and the Government will provide land and infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Chancellor of Amity University, Dr. Atul Chauhan, appraised the gathering of the achievements of the University since its establishment in 2006.
He commended the dedication of the Minister in visiting the private institutions of other States to strengthen the higher education system in Andhra Pradesh.
Minister Srinivasa Rao also interacted with Amity students who have come from Andhra Pradesh in Telugu.
