Andhra Pradesh Police serves notice to 'T-news' channel

The Andhra Pradesh Police has issued a notice to T-news channel for broadcasting an alleged audio tape recording of the phone conversation between Telangana TRS MLA Stephenson and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu saying that it could lead to discrepancies between the two states.

"News program contained material disturbing public tranquillity not only in state of Andhra Pradesh but also Telangana. Thereby developed feeling of enmity, hatred and ill-will between diff political parties and also people of both states," the notice said.

"Visuals and words in the above program showed as if the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister spoke to one person Mr. Stephenson. The footage was repeatedly shown in your channel affecting basic principles of decency, maligning elected head of Andhra Pradesh Government. You are well aware that the unedited versions of such slanderous material will have a deleterious impact on public. Please show cause within three days as to why undersigned shouldn't initiate appropriate legal action for transmitting this program," it added.
