A film based on Whitney Houston is in the works at Lifetime network, which is to be directed by the late singer's 'Waiting to Exhale' co-star Angela Bassett.
According to a press release for the made-for-TV biopic, which is set for a 2015 world premiere, the story will highlight the iconic singer's romance with Bobby Brown to whom she was married from 1992 to 2007, Us Magazine reported.
55-year-old Bassett said in a statement that the duo's bond was fascinating and she's really excited to be the part of the project, which was written by Shem Bitterman.
She feels a responsibility in the telling of their story, she added.
Cited as the most awarded female artist in Guinness World Records, Houston was found dead due to an 'accidental drowning' in 2012 at the age of 48, only hours before she was scheduled to attend Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy party.
