Dozens of female celebrities are supporting Angelina Jolie following her revelation that she underwent a double mastectomy after being diagnosed with the BRCA1 cancer gene.
The 37-year-old actress had both her breasts removed in a drastic operation after being told that she had an 87 per cent chance of developing breast cancer and 50 per cent risk of ovarian cancer, Contactmusic reported.
Country singer Sheryl Crow - herself a survivor of breast cancer - wrote on Twitter, "I commend Angelina Jolie for her courage and thoughtfulness in sharing her story today regarding her mastectomy."
Actresses Elizabeth Banks posted on Twitter, "Much respect and for sharing in classy way, Angelina Jolie on why she had a double mastectomy and how it can save lives."
Kristen Bell wrote in her Twitter account, "An admirable op ed by Angelina Jolie.
