"No child should ever miss out on great education because of lack of funds." It is with this belief that Aniket Singh, author of the book 'Intern Abroad this Summer', announced the launch of a scholarship program aimed at helping students who wish to study at IIT Madras. The scholarship of Rs. 4 lakhs, will help six students pursuing any course from the prestigious institution.

For many brilliant students, securing that coveted seat at IIT after years of toiling is a dream come true. However, the joy of getting through the elite institute can get quickly replaced by the worry of finding finances to pay the fees. Many are unable to take up their admission, while others are forced to drop out of college mid-way due to a fund crunch.

Determined to give back to the country and alma mater that has provided him with so much, Aniket has launched the scholarship which helps students cover the costs of tuition and accommodation that they will incur during their four years on campus. This gives a boost to young minds as they get an additional impetus to pursue their dreams, without the fear of lack of funds.

"I am pleased to announce this scholarship program which aims at inspiring underprivileged students studying in IIT Madras to continue working diligently towards their dreams. This scholarship intends to help students achieve their educational/career goal. As an alumnus of IIT Madras, it is my responsibility to help aspiring students and show them the right path towards becoming great professionals," said Aniket Singh.

The scholarship extends the endeavour of the book, Intern Abroad this Summer to get students to take charge of their own lives and follow their dreams. The book is also a reflection of the author's personal experiences and of how a life-changing conversation with his senior during his engineering days led to a voyage of discovery and personal and professional growth.

Aniket refused to buck to the general trend of cramming for his exams, doing his regular coursework and going for his placements, like the majority of his peers. Instead, he took a different path, completed two foreign internships - at the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom and Ecole Polytechnic Federale de Lausanne in Lausanne, Switzerland and became famous as the senior who went against odds to find a great summer internship.

The book contains such anecdotes of the journey that he took towards realizing his dreams and the success that he found after completing his internships programmes abroad. It also contains advice on how one should out from the crowd and bag that dream internship.

Aniket Singh, who holds a BTech degree in Electrical Engineering from the IIT, Madras, Chennai, and a Master's degree in Wireless Systems from Politecnico Di Torino in Torino, Italy works with Apple in Cupertino, California. He is also an avid toastmaster and public speaker who inspires the youth to look beyond bookish knowledge and explore what the world has in store for them.
